Frequently asked questions

The questions our customers ask most often.

What payment methods do you accept?

We take direct bank transfers, and cash if that’s easier for you, as not everyone is comfortable with technology.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover the whole of Yorkshire and have travelled further afield. We can work nationwide if that’s what a customer needs.

What happens once I book in?

Once you book a site survey, we’ll give you a slot that suits your schedule. Raaj will visit to discuss your options and what you’d like to secure. When you’re happy to go ahead, a small deposit secures your installation date. It’s taken off the final payment on completion. If it isn’t paid promptly, your date may be given to another customer.

Can I view my CCTV on my phone?

Yes. Mobile viewing is free and we activate it as part of your installation. The only extra might be a Wi-Fi device, depending on where the recorder is placed.

Footage on your phone depends on your Wi-Fi, broadband and mobile data. CCTV isn’t viewed in true real time, so there may be a delay in alerts depending on your broadband. If that matters to you, we’d recommend a top-end IP system, and we’ll discuss it at the survey.

If you lose the app, delete it, get a new phone or change broadband, there’s a charge to set it up again, even under warranty. Phone help is £25 paid in advance; a visit starts from £45.

How fast does my broadband need to be?

For remote viewing, a good upload speed matters most. Slow connections affect alerts and footage quality. Spam blockers, firewalls and security software can also block alerts.

These aren’t CCTV faults and we can’t fix them. Contact your broadband or mobile provider if you need a faster service.

Why might notifications and alerts stop working?

Alerts and notifications aren’t error-proof. The apps belong to the system’s manufacturer, not Raaj CCTV, and updates can change how they behave, especially on older phones or after a change of phone or broadband.

Keep your phones on the latest iOS or Android version. Abroad or away from home, alerts depend on the Wi-Fi and data you’re using.

We’ll always advise and keep customers updated about major app problems on Facebook and our website. Further time spent assisting after an initial inspection is charged as a call-out. We don’t refund or compensate when the CCTV itself is recording correctly.

I can’t view the CCTV on my phone. What should I do?

First restart the system, your phones and your broadband. If you’re confident the problem isn’t your internet, contact us.

Call-outs start from £45, and we’ll tell you what’s needed before any work goes ahead. Phone help for a new phone, broadband change or lost app is £25, paid before the call. We don’t store email logins or passwords, so please have them ready.

How tidy is the cabling?

Our engineers are fully qualified and will hide cables wherever possible, alongside existing cables, pipes and fittings. Sometimes cables can’t be hidden, but they’ll always run neatly. Please raise any concerns about cabling during the survey.

What warranty do products have?

Everything we supply has a 12-month parts and labour warranty. A replacement product is covered only for the time left on the original guarantee. For example, if a product guaranteed for a year fails after five months, the replacement is covered for seven months.

Do you only install CCTV?

No. Alongside home and business CCTV, we fit wildlife, pet and event CCTV, smart alarms (our biggest seller after CCTV), parking posts, external lights and sash jammers.

We recommend using our cable, as the pre-made cable supplied with some systems isn’t the quality we’d want to install.

Do you help elderly and vulnerable customers?

Yes. We’re working towards becoming a dementia-friendly business and have supported many families in helping older relatives keep their dignity while being looked after.

A family member must be present at the survey. Anyone who wants the footage on their phone should be present at the installation; otherwise there’s a charge to set them up later.

Is there a discount for family members?

Yes. If someone mentions your name and books an install of at least two cameras, they’ll get a discount. We always look after our customers, especially when we’re kept in the family.

Do you offer maintenance?

Yes. We recommend a service at least once a year, before winter, and offer annual service plans. Warranty can be affected if a system isn’t serviced. Damage from power cuts or severe weather isn’t covered by our warranty.
